Reach calculator FAQs
Where does the reach number come from?
It's Meta's own audience estimate for people aged 18 and over who live in or were recently in the area you choose, across Facebook and Instagram. Meta gives a range, and the number is an estimate, not a guarantee of who will see an ad.
Why can't we target a smaller area or specific ZIP codes?
Meta treats ads for credit, loans, deposit accounts and other financial products as a Special Ad Category called Financial Products and Services. To prevent discrimination, these ads must cover at least a 15-mile radius and can't target by ZIP code, age or gender.
Does every credit union ad fall under these rules?
Most do, including ads for loans, credit cards, checking, savings and membership. Meta decides the category based on what the ad promotes, so it's safest to plan every product ad with these rules in mind.
Can we still use our member list or website visitors?
Custom audiences, such as website visitors or a member list, are still available for these ads, but they must not be used in a way that discriminates. Lookalike and saved audiences are not available.
