Why branch listings matter for credit unions

Members trust what the map says

When a listing shows the wrong hours or a closed branch, members show up to a locked door, or pick the bank down the street instead.

Credit unions change more than most

Mergers, renamed charters, closed and relocated branches, and new ATMs all leave old details behind on sites you've never logged into.

Search and AI read the same data

Google's map pack and AI assistants pull from these listings. Consistent details make it easier for them to recommend you with confidence.

Listings scan FAQs

What does the branch listings scan check?

For each branch you enter, it looks for a listing on major maps, directories and data sources, then compares the name, address, phone number, hours and website against the details you gave us. It flags anything missing, outdated or inconsistent.

Why scan every branch, not just our main office?

Members search for the branch closest to them. Each branch has its own listing on Google, Apple Maps and the rest, and each one can drift out of date on its own, especially after a move, a closure or a merger.

How does wrong information end up in our listings?

Listings are fed by many sources, including data aggregators that share information with hundreds of sites. Old addresses from a branch move, a previous credit union name after a merger, or a retired phone number can keep resurfacing even after you fix them in one place.

Is the scan free?

Yes. The scan is free and you'll see your score without giving us an email. If you want the full breakdown and fix plan, we ask for your contact details so we can send it to you.

What should we do if the scan finds problems?

You can fix listings yourself, but you'll often need to claim and verify each one first, and then keep checking that old data doesn't creep back. SmartSource's SEO & Local Search service corrects your branch listings, keeps them consistent and monitors them over time.
